Safety First, Always

Scouting Is Safe
By Design.

Pack 62 follows Scouting America's Guide to Safe Scouting — a comprehensive set of policies that protect every scout and adult in our pack. Safety isn't an afterthought. It's baked into everything we do.

Core Safety Principles

🛡️

Two-Deep Leadership

Every scout activity requires at least two registered adult leaders present. No one-on-one contact between adults and youth.

👁️

Youth Protection

All registered adults complete Youth Protection Training. This is mandatory and renewed every 2 years — no exceptions.

📋

Medical Forms

Annual Health and Medical Record (Parts A & B) required for all scouts and adults at activities. Part C (physician exam) required for resident camps.

🚫

Prohibited Activities

Pack 62 follows BSA's prohibited activities list — including strict rules around firearms, fireworks, certain vehicles, and unapproved climbing activities.

The Buddy System

Scouts never go anywhere alone. The buddy system is one of scouting's most fundamental safety practices — every scout is paired with a partner for any activity, whether it's a hike, a bathroom break at camp, or crossing a parking lot.

It's simple, it's universal, and it works. Buddies look out for each other. That habit starts here and sticks for life.

Reporting Concerns

Pack 62 takes every concern seriously. If you observe behavior that makes a scout uncomfortable or unsafe:

  1. Tell a pack leader immediately
  2. Contact Scouting America's 24/7 Helpline: 1-844-SCOUTS1
  3. If a scout is in immediate danger, call 911 first
All concerns are treated confidentially and taken seriously. No concern is too small to report.

Guide to Safe Scouting

Scouting America publishes the complete Guide to Safe Scouting online. It covers everything from aquatics and climbing to transportation and social media policies.
