About Pack 62

A Family-First, Community-Driven Pack

Pack 62 is chartered by New Hope Fellowship and is part of the Waipiti District, Adventure West Council. We welcome boys and girls in Kindergarten through 5th grade who live in and around Erie, CO. The program is almost entirely led by parent volunteers, and every family plays a role in making it great.

📅 Pack Meetings

The whole pack gathers once a month — typically the 1st Tuesday at 6:30 PM. These are fun, active group events focused on awards, announcements, and shared activities.

Offset Costs with Fundraising

Our annual fall Trails End Popcorn sale can significantly offset dues and even cover national membership fees. Strong pack-wide participation also reduces or eliminates the need for additional local pack dues — the more families sell, the lower the overall cost for everyone. Every scout is expected to take part in the fall sale.

🤝

Financial Aid Available

No family should miss out on scouting because of cost. Pack 62 offers financial assistance, and additional support may be available through the council. Contact our treasurer to learn more.

👕

Where to Get Uniforms

New uniforms are available at the Loveland Scout Shop (Adventure West Council, Loveland, CO) or online at ScoutShop.org. The pack sometimes has gently-used uniforms available for free — ask about availability when you reach out.

⚠️

Register Only When You're Ready

Before paying the national Scouting America membership fee, confirm your scout can regularly attend den meetings. Refunds from national are very difficult to obtain.

Parent Involvement

A Pack Runs on Parent Energy

Pack 62 is volunteer-led and family-driven. Every family is expected to participate and contribute throughout the year. The more families show up and pitch in, the better the program is for every scout.

1 Register One Adult

We strongly encourage every family to register at least one adult with Scouting America ($100/year, per current BSA rates). Registration is required for adults serving as a den leader or committee member, and for anyone attending overnight campouts. Cub Scout events are all under 48 hours, so national policy does not mandate registration for general attendance. Registering enables adults to take on leadership roles, run den adventures, and access Youth Protection Training — all of which make for a richer experience for your scout.

2 Lead a Den Adventure

Every family is expected to lead or co-lead at least one den adventure per year. Den leaders provide full planning support — no prior experience is needed. This is one of the most meaningful contributions a family makes to their scout's program, and most families find it far more enjoyable than they expected.

3 Support Pack Events

Pack events like the Pinewood Derby, banquets, and campouts need hands. Families are asked to help with set-up, supplies, coordination, or leadership depending on your availability and interest.

4 Participate in Fundraising

Every scout is expected to participate in the fall Trails End Popcorn sale. Strong family participation funds pack activities, awards, and supplies, and directly reduces or eliminates the need for additional local pack dues. In a strong fundraising year, the sale can also offset your national membership fees. The pack provides everything families need to get started.

Note for Kindergarten & 1st Grade Families

Our youngest scouts — Lions (Kindergarten) and Tigers (1st Grade) — participate as an adult-scout partner team. The adult partner is required to attend all den and pack meetings with their scout. This is a program requirement, not a suggestion. It creates an incredible bonding experience and is one of the most special aspects of early scouting. Older scouts (2nd–5th grade) may be dropped off once youth protection requirements are met.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Still have questions? Here are the ones we hear most often from new families.

Absolutely! No prior experience is needed at any level. Every scout begins with the Bobcat Award — a set of fundamentals that introduces the Scout Oath, Law, and basic scouting concepts. We'll guide your child (and your family) through every step.
Yes! Scouting America's Cub Scout program has welcomed girls since 2018. Pack 62 is fully open to girls and boys in all dens, Kindergarten through 5th grade. Every child has the same access to the full program, ranks, and activities.
We accept scouts in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Kindergarteners are Lions, 1st graders are Tigers, 2nd graders are Wolves, 3rd graders are Bears, 4th graders are Webelos, and 5th graders earn their Arrow of Light — the highest Cub Scout rank — and bridge to Boy Scouts (Scouts BSA).
Pack 62 caps enrollment at 55 scouts to keep the experience personal and high-quality. Contact us to confirm current availability — some dens may have limited openings at certain times of the year.
We understand that families are busy. Most of our volunteer asks can be fulfilled in a few hours per season. We have many roles that don't require heavy time commitments. The most important thing is that your scout attends den meetings consistently — we work around the rest.
Pack 62 is a family-first program! Siblings, grandparents, and close family friends are welcome at most events including campouts. Pre-scouting age siblings may participate in appropriate activities. Some older siblings (11–18) can serve as Den Chiefs, an official Scouts BSA leadership role.
We encourage you to visit a meeting before registering and paying fees — just reach out to set it up. You can also explore the full Cub Scout program at scouting.org and search for other nearby packs at beascout.scouting.org to compare options.
