Cub Scout Pack 62 — Erie, CO
What to Expect: Costs, Time Commitment, and Family Involvement
We want you to join with eyes wide open — here's everything you need to know about time, cost, commitment, and what your child will experience.
Pack 62 is chartered by New Hope Fellowship and is part of the Waipiti District, Adventure West Council. We welcome boys and girls in Kindergarten through 5th grade who live in and around Erie, CO. The program is almost entirely led by parent volunteers, and every family plays a role in making it great.
The whole pack gathers once a month — typically the 1st Tuesday at 6:30 PM. These are fun, active group events focused on awards, announcements, and shared activities.

Our annual fall Trails End Popcorn sale can significantly offset dues and even cover national membership fees. Strong pack-wide participation also reduces or eliminates the need for additional local pack dues — the more families sell, the lower the overall cost for everyone. Every scout is expected to take part in the fall sale.
No family should miss out on scouting because of cost. Pack 62 offers financial assistance, and additional support may be available through the council. Contact our treasurer to learn more.
New uniforms are available at the Loveland Scout Shop (Adventure West Council, Loveland, CO) or online at ScoutShop.org. The pack sometimes has gently-used uniforms available for free — ask about availability when you reach out.
Before paying the national Scouting America membership fee, confirm your scout can regularly attend den meetings. Refunds from national are very difficult to obtain.
Pack 62 is volunteer-led and family-driven. Every family is expected to participate and contribute throughout the year. The more families show up and pitch in, the better the program is for every scout.
We strongly encourage every family to register at least one adult with Scouting America ($100/year, per current BSA rates). Registration is required for adults serving as a den leader or committee member, and for anyone attending overnight campouts. Cub Scout events are all under 48 hours, so national policy does not mandate registration for general attendance. Registering enables adults to take on leadership roles, run den adventures, and access Youth Protection Training — all of which make for a richer experience for your scout.
Every family is expected to lead or co-lead at least one den adventure per year. Den leaders provide full planning support — no prior experience is needed. This is one of the most meaningful contributions a family makes to their scout's program, and most families find it far more enjoyable than they expected.
Pack events like the Pinewood Derby, banquets, and campouts need hands. Families are asked to help with set-up, supplies, coordination, or leadership depending on your availability and interest.
Every scout is expected to participate in the fall Trails End Popcorn sale. Strong family participation funds pack activities, awards, and supplies, and directly reduces or eliminates the need for additional local pack dues. In a strong fundraising year, the sale can also offset your national membership fees. The pack provides everything families need to get started.
Our youngest scouts — Lions (Kindergarten) and Tigers (1st Grade) — participate as an adult-scout partner team. The adult partner is required to attend all den and pack meetings with their scout. This is a program requirement, not a suggestion. It creates an incredible bonding experience and is one of the most special aspects of early scouting. Older scouts (2nd–5th grade) may be dropped off once youth protection requirements are met.
