Getting Connected

What Happens After You Register

Once your membership is confirmed and fees are paid, here's exactly what to expect:

1

Cubmaster Reaches Out

The Pack 62 Cubmaster will send you a welcome email connecting you with your den leader. Your den leader will provide the specific meeting schedule, location, and add you to den communications (email list, group chat, etc.).

If you haven't heard within a week of registering, reach out directly at recruiter@eriepack62.org.

2

Review the Welcome Materials

We'll email you a quick-read welcome guide covering Cub Scouting basics — the Scout Oath and Law, how advancement works, what to bring to meetings, and Pack 62-specific guidelines.

Explore Cub Scouts at scouting.org →
3

Complete the Family Talent Survey

We'll ask each family to complete a short survey about your professional skills, hobbies, and interests. This helps us match families with volunteer opportunities that fit them — whether that's leading a cooking adventure, helping at a campout, or organizing supplies.

4

Add the Pack Calendar

All Pack 62 events are on a shared Google Calendar. Your den leader will also maintain a separate den-level calendar for your specific group. Add both to your phone so you never miss an adventure.

  • Adventure West Council shoulder patch
  • World Crest emblem
  • Den number patch
  • Scout belt
  • Rank-specific handbook
  • Navy/jean or green pants or shorts (with belt loops)
💡 Tips for saving on uniforms: Pack 62 sometimes has donated uniforms available — ask the Cubmaster before purchasing. New uniforms are available at the Loveland Scout Shop (Adventure West Council — 1325 Denver Ave, Loveland, CO) or online at ScoutShop.org. Outdoor gear — boots, rain layers, camp supplies — can be found at Cabela's in Thornton (I-25 at 136th Ave), REI in Boulder (1789 28th St), or REI in Denver (1416 Platte St). Optional items include scout hats, official scout pants, neckerchief slides, and socks — don't feel pressured to buy everything at once. Start with the shirt and belt and add from there.
First Achievement

Your First Badge: The Bobcat Award

Every new Cub Scout — no matter what grade they enter — starts here.

🐱

The Bobcat Award — Where Every Scout Begins

The Bobcat Award introduces the foundational elements of Cub Scouting: the Scout Oath, the Scout Law, the Cub Scout motto ("Do Your Best"), the Scout sign and handshake, and the meaning of the Cub Scout uniform. Requirements are in your rank-specific handbook and at scouting.org/adventures. Start elective adventures right away — save required adventures for your den meetings, where leaders will guide your group through them together.

Tracking Progress

Advancement Tracking Tools

Keep track of every achievement, hike, campout, and service hour with these official Scouting America tools — both are free.

📱

The Scoutbook App (Free)

Download the free Scoutbook app on iPhone or Android to log achievements, view upcoming events, and see your scout's full advancement record. Your den leader uses this to record awards, so keeping it up to date ensures nothing gets missed.

For Parents

Adult Registration & Involvement

Pack 62 asks each family to register at least one adult member. Here's what it means — and what it doesn't.

🔒

Two-Deep Leadership

Scouting America requires two registered adult leaders at every scouting event. Adult membership registration (~$100/yr) is what makes you an official registered leader and fulfills this protection requirement.

👔

No Job Required

Registering as an adult member doesn't automatically assign you a job or require you to wear a uniform — though both are encouraged. You're simply making the pack safer and more legally compliant by being official.

🌟

Volunteer Roles

Once registered, you can take on optional roles: assistant den leader, event coordinator, treasurer, or one of many other positions listed on our Pack 62 Jobs Roster. New families often start with assistant roles.
