Journey to Excellence

Scouting’s Journey to Excellence is the BSA’s planning, performance, and recognition program designed to encourage and reward the success of our units, districts and councils. It is meant to encourage excellence in providing a quality program at all levels of the BSA.

In every year of the Journey to Excellence program (2011 through 2017), Pack 62 has earned the Gold Level of the award.

Planning & Budget

(50) Have an annual program plan and budget

(100) Bronze plus 6 Pack committee meetings

(200) Silver plus Pack conducts a planning meeting with Den Leaders

Building Cub Scouts

(50) Formal recruitment program by 10/31 and register new members

(100) Bronze and either 5% increase or have at least 40 members

(200) Silver and either 10% incease or have at least 60 members

Retention

(50) Reregister 60% of eligible members

(100) Reregister 65% of eligible members

(200) Reregister 75% of eligible members

Webelos to Scout Transition

(25) Hold 2 joint activities with a Troop or 75% of Webelos 2s complete “The Scouting Adventure”

(50) 60% of eligible Webelos register with a Troop

(100) 80% of eligible Webelos register with a Troop & have an active Den Chief

Advancement

(100) 50% of Cub Scouts advance one rank

(200) 60% of Cub Scouts advance one rank

(300) 75% of Cub Scouts advance one rank

Outdoor Activities

(50) Each Den has opportunity to participate in 3 outdoor activities

(100) Each Den has opportunity to participate in 4 outdoor activities

(200) Each Den has opportunity to participate in 5 outdoor activities

Day, Resident or Family Camp

(50) 33% participate in a  camping experience or improvement over last year

(100) 50% or 33% with improvement over last year

(200) 75% or 50% with improvement over last year

Service Projects

(25) Participate in 2 service projects

(50) Participate in 3 service projects

(100) Silver plus at least 1 service project is conservation-oriented

Pack and Den Meetings

(25) Hold 8 Pack meetings

(50) Bronze plus Dens meet at least twice a month during the school year

(100) Silver plus earn the Summertime Pack Award

Leadership Recruitment

(50) Have a Cubmaster, Ass’t Cubmaster & 3 Committee members

(100) Bronze and by fall reqruiting event identify Pack and Den leaders for next year

(200) Silver plus every Den has a registered leader by 10/31/16

Trained Leadership

(50) Cubmaster or ACM has completed position specific training

(100) Bronze plus Cubmaster & Den Leaders complete position-specific training

(200) Silver plus 2/3 of Committee members have completed position-specific training
