Why we promote community service.  Simply put, we do our best to help others through service because that is what a Scout does, and it is in our Oath, "On my honor, I will do my best, to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight."
Teaching boys to serve the community also helps instill most of Cub Scoutings Core Values: Citizenship, Compassion, Cooperation, Courage, Faith, Health & Fitness, Honesty, Perseverance, Positive Attitude, Resourcefulness, Respect, and Responsibility. These are values that we hope our Cub Scouts will carry with them throughout their lives to serve each community where they live.
How we serve the community. Pack 62 serves the community several ways.  We participate in several Scouting for Food drives.  We present the American flag at numerous events around the Town of Erie.  We have also “adopted” Thomas Reservoir and work with the Town of Erie to help keep it clean.  In addition to these Pack community service projects, Dens also practice community service as part of their programs, and individual Scouts can serve the community as well.
On June 1, 2013, the Town of Erie dedicated a bench to Pack 62 in honor of its service over the years.  The bench can be found near the pier.
